It has been a roller coaster weekend… and it’s only Saturday night. It all started when I left work on Friday. I had planned to meet up with some ladies from my sauna, for cocktails at a famous local bar in Stoke Newington called Yum Yums. One of the ladies had just turned 57. It turned out to be an amazing night out with a bunch of lovely ladies. Drinking cocktails at Yum Yum.
The plan…
To start with, I made sure I had a late lunch on Friday. I made sure it was my type of lunch because I knew I was going out to indulge in some cocktails later on that evening. So for lunch ordered my favourite Nigerian vegetable soup and pounded yam from Cannan Resturant in Camberwell. Those who know, know😎. This food never ever dissappoints.
First half….
I arrived at the bar just after 6pm in the company of my remaining pounded yam. Yep you heard me well. The remaining of the pounded yam and vegetable soup, already in a take away container, accompanied me, on my Friday evening outing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣… wrapped up nicely and carried in style. Dior will be proud I made good use of their paper bag 🤣🤣
Being the first to arrive at Yum Yum, I made myself comfortable at the bar and ofcourse ordered something to drink negroni. The thing about this bar and their happy hour is that they bring you 2 drinks at a time. The staff know exactly what happy hour means. So here I was with 2 drinks. Needless to say that at some point during the night, I had 4 drink in front of me 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Cocktails 2s or 4s
A short while later I was joined by the ladies and the chatting and discussion started. We talked, drank and snacked. Doing more of the drinking than any thing else. Drink orders arriving in 2s and 4s, all around us🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 We first had some nibbles at the bar
At some point we decided to relocate ourselves away from the bar to a comphy sofa. Again we ordered more nibbles to share. Chatting and drinking. Our voices getting louder, or was it the voices of the other guests.😂😂😂😂
Meat or veg…
Having ordered our first platter of food to share on our new location, it wasn’t until we were half way through eating the platter, that we realised it was a vegetarian platter🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a big laugh. At some point during the eating the birthday girl was not getting the satisfaction from the meal. That’s when she enquired where is the meat. That’s when it dawned on us that it’s a vegetarian platter 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…. absolutely hilarious. Upon realisation, we immediately made another order, just to please the birthday girl. This time for the meat/seafood platter. We started the eating all over again.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ladies call….
Offcourse a visit to the ladies is inevitable. I was just so glad I was with one of the ladies who knew her way. OMG what a maze. As we were sat at the bar area of the resturant. We had to walk through the whole resturant, to get to the stairs, that will lead us downstairs to where the toilets were located.
There must be a genuine reason why these toilets are located in the basement. Anyway, these toilets were not nice. I didn’t quite like them. They were dark and dingy. The kind of place were you wouldn’t notice if they were clean or not. So my visit was very brief and short. It did have lovely paintings on the doors. Other than that it was dark and dingy.
Where is everyone
The birthday girl then decided that we should all go to the club across the road. Off we went like a couple of care free teenagers, across the road and into an empty club.
The owner being pleased that we were the first to arrive and coming for the first time welcomed us with shots. It was a nice welcome. We stayed for a few hours with the DJ playing our songs on request.. We danced and danced… people began to arrive… eventually I made my way home to my blessings….. with my vegetable soup and pounded yam 😂😂😂😂
