Why I Never Miss an FGGC Owerri Global Reunion – And You Shouldn't Either

Since the first one was held, I’ve never missed a single FGGC Owerri Global Reunion in Nigeria. Every two years, I pack my bags and make my way home—not just to a place, but to people. And this year in Abuja? It topped them all.
This event is a permanent fixture in my calendar. No matter what else is going on, I show up. Because I know I’ll leave with something richer than I came with—laughter, connection, shared stories, and that unspoken bond that only an FGGC girl can understand.
Even though I stayed outside the official reunion accommodation, planning transport and hotel accommodation/rooms with my 6W girls—Class of ’89 (6WC89)—still gave me that boarding house feeling all over again, just with adult freedom and bigger laughs.
This year, I travelled with a few amazing women from the UK chapter. We took part in the cultural evening and presented a poem I wrote. We came third—and I can’t lie, I was buzzing. Not just because of the placement, but because it was my words that brought our story to life. The applause, the unity, the pride—it was unforgettable.
And then, as if the joy hadn’t peaked, Blue House went on to win inter-house sports the next day! If you’re Blue House, you’ll understand the joy. If you’re not, it’s okay—you can still clap for us. 😉
But beyond the performances and the prizes, what truly made this reunion special were the conversations. I met women attending for the first time—many of whom didn’t know what to expect. Some came with hesitation, others out of curiosity. But by the end? They were smiling, dancing, exchanging numbers, and already planning for 2027.

That's the magic of this reunion. It’s not just an event. It’s a reconnection. It’s not just nostalgia. It’s sisterhood in motion. It’s not just a social gathering. It’s a reminder of who we are and what we share.
And that’s why I show up. That’s why I plan ahead. That’s why I will, by God’s grace, be in Lagos 2027. Because I don’t just want to remember the past—I want to keep building memories with the women who were part of my foundation.
So, if you’ve never attended a global reunion before, or if it’s been a while—make this your sign. Start planning now. Join your chapter. Reach out. Book that flight. Come home.
The next reunion isn’t just another date on the calendar. It’s your opportunity to laugh, dance, reflect, and remember—with people who get it. People who get you.
Let’s grow old together with joy in our hearts and memories in our pockets.

📣 See you in Lagos, 2027. You in?
