Woke up refreshed and relaxed. Decided to go for a cup of my favourite coffee, Costa Coffee to start my day. With my Google map app and the
paper copy of the Geneva transport, given to me by the hotel reception, off I went.
Took bus 5 to Rieu, then walked as described. Eventually got to Costa Cofee, a small coffee shop in Rieu. It wasn’t the Costa coffee shop I had in mind, but all the same, I did have a cup of coffee as planned and a friendly chat with the owner. She told me she always has people from London coming into her café, directed by Google maps, thinking they were going to find a Costa coffee shop…🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣. I guess I have joined that group.
Continued on bus 5 to the United Nations building. Didn’t get off as planned (nature was calling) but had a good view of the building and the celebrations taking place outside. The bus stops right in front of the building. Very colourful and vibrant celebrations of the nation are happening outside.
On my quest to look for the lady's convenient, I figured that if I continued on the same bus, I could get off at the airport. I got off at what I thought was the airport stop, but it turned out to be the wrong stop.
I only realised it was the wrong building only when I found myself inside the building. I looked around and couldn’t see the regular departure and arrival signs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 or signs to the toilets. You know, the regular signs you see in an airport. I didn’t even know where I was at that point. This is how people disappear.
At this point, I was still standing in the same spot, looking around for signs to the toilet and any clue indicating where I was. I eventually saw a sign saying conference, then another saying congress. I figured it was a conference centre and a congress on security and cyber hacking that was in progress. Anyway, it was too late, all I needed was the toilets and the toilets I must use before I left. My mission accomplished, off I went to continue my journey.
Got back on bus 5 still heading in the direction of the airport. Realising that it was almost 3 pm and I hadn’t had any brunch, I headed back to Cret-de-Champel on bus 23 then 21. I had lunch here yesterday in a restaurant which is part of the university of Genevas lodgings/campus. This is precisely where I started my day when I arrived the day before.
What a lovely, calm day I’ve had, sightseeing my way around Geneva. Should I say sightseeing from the comfort of the buses?
