So we went for the 1st consultation and assessment for the milk teeth saga at the main hospital. The good thing about private dentist is that they will not operate on you… they actually can not operate as they are not setup for that… no theatre provision. Once it has passed removing a tooth… or a couple… and sticking on braces, then they pass you on to big brother… Eastman Dental Hospital.
So here I am again…. like dejavu… 23 years ago I was here for the same concern my son (Prof) has been sent here for. Our permanent teeth refuse to come out on their own… they need a little help.
At 25 can you believe I still had my milk teeth still strongly rooted in my mouth… not 1 but 2. I am sure it is a business book of records. I could be famous without know it🙅♀️🙅♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
In the case of my son, he has 4 permanent set of teeth that have refused to come down… or up. This is after he has had his milk teeth extracted forcefully to make way. Apparently these 4 need more space.
So after another serious xray, a confirmation that he still has 4 permanent teeth to come out. An explanation was given by the consultant on the options available. Prof has chosen to go with option 3… the option I chose 23yrs ago. Let’s give the teeth a helping hand to come out.
It’s a pretty simple straight forward option that involves general anaesthetic… yep… put him to sleep… proper operation … in the mouth. Hence the hospital appointment and not a dentist.
Procedure for Profs. braces
First they put you to sleep. Then they remove any obstruction ..I.e extra/more teeth… then they insert braces and insert a chain around the stubborn teeth attached to these to the braces. Over a period of time (3yrs at least), they will gradually force down the stubborn teeth that refused to come out. It is only painful every 6-8 weeks when you go to have your braces tightened.
25 year milk teeth
This my friend is exactly what happened to me at the ripe age of 25. I had no gaps in my mouth and no one could tell I still had my milk teeth. The problem was at w5 the permanent teeth decided it was time to come out… with no available specie to come out into, the teeth decided to come out at the roof of my gum… palate (palatal)….
Needless to say everything was put in their rightful position. Hence my lovely smile today…
Thanking God for all the dentist in the world..
