So I went to another Open Day with my son. This is the 2nd one. This time in his present school. I just go for moral support. Let it not be that I am not interested. I am… and i feel he should be in control of the whole application process. And because of that, he actually told me a day before the open day… “oh mummy my open day is tomorrow evening”😳🤗
Not another Mathematician
He knows exactly what he wants to study …. well almost… he is keen on Maths… yep you heard me…. Maths… I seem to be surrounded by maths enthusiasts… me weh I no sabi mathematics 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anyway he needs to do 3 subjects… he has 5 in mind so far…. Maths… further maths… physics… economics….. and computing. He had discussions with his teachers… at the moment he is torn between the above subjects….
Quite frankly I have had a difficult relationship with maths all through my life… I get along knowing just the basics… not keen on other science subjects too… that’d just not me… and post meningitis… well…. I’ve completely lost the plot 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…
A Maths teacher
In terms of what he wants to be… well his list is growing long… Maths teacher… Maths professor … engineer (soft and hardware)… and at the open day event he mentioned being a lawyer… because he enjoys being a member of the debating club. He had a quick chat with the history teacher, as he contemplates taking history as a subject.. My advice to him is to do what he would really enjoy doing …. even in his sleep…
At his age I’m not sure I knew what I wanted to be. As a child I wanted to be a nurse. But that qas it, im not sure if its because wr played doctor and nurse🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. But I was hopeless at the science subjects. I remember I had started several college qualifications… not A Levels though. I had pretty much gone through the vocational route. One thing I know is that I am extremely determined…
My qualification
I trained as a secretary… thinking I was going to become a PA… the ability to touch type has been one of my best skills I aquired …. then I attended construction college thinking I would do architecture…. I was in awe of my elder brother who was studing architecture. I disliked the measuring of everything🙈… then eventually I found a BTEC course in Housing…. the rest is history… an enjoyable process that involved me writting essays which I absolutely loved🙈…
I’m not keen on studying, but I know I have to keep my grey cells stimulant…🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
